Roses in a Matisse Mood
20x16”, Oil on LinenA beautiful arrangement of roses were on the table with lovely vases adding ambiance. The pale white surrounding served to frame the flowers perfectly. The entire scene was fun to paint but I struggled with the background color, until in exasperation I tried this color which seemed pulled from the Matisse color palette, and voila, this color background appeared.
